Hi All,

Halloween season is upon us. It’s a great time of year, the season is changing into fall. It’s getting cooler in the evening and also dark earlier. It’s a spooky time of year and if you’re into spooky stuff it’s great.

Personally, I love to watch the kids dress up into costumes and get excited about going out and collecting candy or attending many Haunted Houses or Halloween parties. It seems that adults have as much fun if not more than children or teenagers do. But with all the festivities there is some responsibilities that we need to be aware of.

How to stay safe this year while out “Trick or Treating”

  1. Plan your route: Before you head out, plan your route, and make sure someone else knows where you’re going. This will help ensure that you don’t get lost and that someone knows where you are in case of an emergency.
  2. Wear reflective clothing: Wear reflective or light-colored clothing so that you can be seen by drivers. You can also use reflective tape or glow sticks for added visibility. Keep in mind that some costumes and masks will limit your visibility. Have someone help guide you if needed to keep you safe.
  3. Carry a flashlight: Bring a flashlight with you so that you can see where you’re going and avoid tripping over obstacles.
  4. Stay in a group: Trick-or-treat in a group with friends or family members. This will help ensure that you’re not alone and that someone is always looking out for you.
  5. Stay on the sidewalk: Stick to the sidewalk and avoid walking in the street, especially if there are no sidewalks available.
  6. Be aware of traffic: Be aware of traffic and always look both ways before crossing the street.
  7. Be mindful of allergies: If you have food allergies, make sure to read the labels of any treats you receive to ensure that they are safe for you to eat.
  8. Stay hydrated: Bring a water bottle with you and make sure to stay hydrated while trick-or-treating.
  9. Be aware of your surroundings: Stay alert and be aware of your surroundings at all times. If you see anything suspicious or feel uncomfortable, leave the area immediately.
  10. Avoid homemade treats: Only accept commercially wrapped treats and avoid homemade treats from strangers.
  11. Inspect, or have your parents inspect your candy: Before eating any candy, inspect it for signs of tampering or damage.
  12. Only go to well-lit homes: Stick to well-lit areas and only visit homes that have their lights on.
  13. Don’t enter any homes or cars: Never enter a home or car for treats, even if the person seems friendly. It’s a fun night but remember that rules in dealing with strangers still apply.
  14. Have fun! Most importantly, have fun and enjoy the holiday!

Remember, these tips are just a starting point. Always use your best judgment and stay alert while trick-or-treating to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.

Respectfully,

Mario
